The Concept of Revenge in The Cask of Amontillado Essay. “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe is short story about how Montresor takes his revenge against the unsuspecting Fortunato. Fortunato has apparently insulted Montresor, and since that day Montresor, who is narrating the story, has promised to avenge the insult done to him.
